Privacy Policy

Peak Fomo is a reader for your own Mastodon timeline, and it is built so that reading stays between you and your server. BaconWorks, LLC has no servers, no accounts, and no way to see your timeline, your reading, or who you are.

Your Mastodon account

• You sign in on your own Mastodon server's website, in a secure sign-in sheet. Peak Fomo never sees your password.
• The authorization your server returns is stored in your device's keychain and used only to fetch your timeline. Disconnecting in Settings removes it from the device.
• The app talks directly to your Mastodon server. Your timeline, your account details, and everything you read travel between your device and that server and nowhere else — nothing passes through BaconWorks.
• Sign-in asks for read, write, and push access. Reading is what powers the feed today; write and push exist for planned posting and notification features. The app never posts, follows, or changes anything on your account by itself.

Your feed and your reading

• The links, posts, saves, and dismissals that make up your feed are stored in a local database on your device, so the feed is fast and works offline.
• That data never leaves your device, except to the services you choose to connect (below).
• To help you find your server when you first connect, the app downloads the public server directory from joinmastodon.org. What you type in the server field is matched against that list on your device and is not sent anywhere.

Bookmarks (optional)

You can connect Pinboard or Linkding so that saving a card files the link in your own bookmark service. If you never connect one, Peak Fomo never contacts either, and saves stay on your device as local stars. If you do:

• The API token you provide is stored in your device's keychain and used only to save links to your account.
• Links you save travel directly from your device to your chosen service — to Pinboard under its own privacy policy, or to your own Linkding server.
• Removing the service in Settings removes the token from your device.

What the app collects

Nothing. Peak Fomo contains no analytics, no tracking, and no advertising SDKs. It makes no network connections of its own except to your Mastodon server, the joinmastodon.org directory (on the connect screen), your bookmark service if you configured one, and the App Store for purchases.

Purchases

Peak Fomo's subscription and lifetime purchase are processed by Apple through the App Store. We receive anonymized transaction information from Apple (needed to unlock your purchase) but never your name, payment details, or Apple ID.

This website

peakfomo.com is a static site served by Cloudflare, which may log standard technical request data (such as IP addresses) to operate the service. The site uses Plausible, a privacy-friendly analytics service that counts visits in aggregate, without cookies and without collecting personal identifiers. The site sets no cookies. If you pick a light or dark theme with the switcher in the footer, that choice is stored in your own browser and never leaves it.

If you sign up for Peak Fomo news, the email address you enter is sent to Buttondown, the newsletter service that stores the list. It is used only to send you Peak Fomo news, and every email includes an unsubscribe link. The address is never shared or sold.

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with an updated date.
